Masaan

This debut film of Neeraj Ghaywan was the talk of the town recently. The movie not only won two awards in the 2015 Cannes Film Festival but also got 5 minutes standing ovation from the audience. The Indo-French movie that impressed everyone abroad is about the lives of four people who live in the holy city of Benaras.

 

Angry Indian Goddesses

India’s first female buddy film Angry Indian Goddesses is currently a part of the on-going Mumbai Film Festival. The film which was screened at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has been voted as the first runner-up by the people. The movie revolves around a group of girls who visit Goa for their friends’ wedding.

 

Chauthi Koot

This film directed by Gurvinder Singh received 10 minutes standing ovation when it was screened to a full house at Debussy Theatre in Cannes. The film is based on short stories written by Indian author Waryam Singh Sandhu. The film is set in 1980s Punjab describes the fear and paranoia that existed due to the Hindu-Sikh tension.

 

Titli

Titli was first screened at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Since then, it has been a part of 22 international film festivals. The film won many awards and was a commercial success in Germany and France too. Written and directed by Kanu Behl, this movie revolves around a man who tries to escape the violent “family business” that he is trapped in.

 

Margarita With A Straw

This movie had its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film was later screened at other popular film festivals as well. Directed by Shonali Bose, this movie stars Kalki Koechlin playing the role of a girl with cerebral palsy.
