1. Lagaan

The first film under AKP banner, Lagaan went on to be India's official nomination for the Oscars in that year. The epic sports drama based on the British era not only received critical acclamation but is also one of the most successful films in Bollywood. The film talks about the fight of villagers against the British rulers on tax payment which was settled by a cricket match.
