All you TBBT fans out there, we have some good news for you. The Big Bang Theory, one of the most successful sitcoms of today’s time has been officially renewed for two more seasons. Though CBS and producers Warner Bros. Television have commissioned the sitcom for season 11 & 12, Mayim Bailik and Melissa Rauch who play Amy and Bernadette respectively on the show are yet to receive their personal contract renewals.
According to media reports stars Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco's (Penny) new deals will see the trio take a pay cut to 90 grand per episode — down from the $1 million per episode. All five original stars (including Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg) are said to be earning 90k per episode as they took pay cuts to help boost the contracts for co-stars Bialik and Rauch.
An average production cost of one TBBT episode surmounts to a staggering $10 million. CBS and Warner Bros. Television are said to jointly cover those costs. Currently in its 10th season, The Big Bang Theory has won 4 Emmy Awards for star Jim Parsons. Created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, it is still uncertain when season 12 will mark the highly successful sitcom’s swan song.
